WisePass upgrades its web3 stack to scale faster

On September 2023, WisePass introduced its initiative about web3. Users were able to connect their wallet, select their token and simply redeem an item around the WisePass network.

This year, the company moved forward with a newly designed experience. The company upgraded its stack to ensure a seamless experience for users to enjoy WisePass.

What has changed?

The main change with this new stack is the full rewrite of the code so that users purchase credits first ( we call them PASS ). Users can select any eligible tokens they want, buy them, and then use them.

Why did it change?

The main reason is that some of the transactions triggered with the previous stack led to a poor user experience.

Some transactions failed because users didn’t have enough gas to process them, and some failed because some third-party API didn’t work.

How did the re-design improve the user experience?

By segmenting the process into 2 distinct flows, we have improved the user experience. The first part is web3 driven where users will need to connect their wallet, select the token and buy the credits. When credits are purchased, the self custodial wallet will be triggered and then request the confirmation from the users.

Many things can go wrong at that stage, that’s why we put a lot of effort to reduce as much as we could the number of steps.

What’s the other flow?

The other flow is much more traditional as we simply got back to our traditional PASS system. We built a separate web3 API to let web3 users redeem items mimicking a wallet system.

When a wallet is connected, users can know the amount of PASS they purchased and redeemed.

Users will still head to a venue, scan a QR code, and redeem an item. Everything is smooth like a web2 version

We processed the web3 part mostly to ensure that we could provide the most frictionless experience for users from any chain or token.

Regardless of the chain or tokens, WisePass provides an experience that lets web3 users spend their tokens and access its network like any user. The goal is to focus on simplicity, ease of use, and speed. Our goal is to let web3 people enjoy their tokens in the easiest way possible.
